Zillah basketball player Izzy Sandoval voted WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Zillah's Izzy Sandoval for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 22-Jan. 27!
Sandoval has a way of impacting important games - and did against Chelan in a matchup of 1A top-10 ranked teams. The senior poured in a career-high 32 points on 13-of-22 shooting, including four 3-pointers, to lead the No. 1 Leopards to a victory. Also had five assists and three steals.
Sandoval received 55.4% of the vote, beating out Naches Valley 1,000-point scorer Maddy Jewett, who finished second with 42.9%.

Addysen Case, Skyview girls bowling: Junior led Storm to seventh consecutive District 4 team title with her tournament-winning individual series of 583 pins (178-195-210) at Hazel Dell Lanes.
Charlene Campbell, Wenatchee girls bowling: Won individual title with three-game 625-pin series while helping Panthers to 11th district championship. Program has posted 19 winning seasons in 22-year history.
Jaxon Dubiel, Mountlake Terrace boys basketball: On senior night, the Hawks' standout guard scored a game-high 30 points in a 3A Wesco win over Lynnwood.
Karsyn Freeman, Adna girls basketball: Possible 2B Central MVP lock-up? Junior scored 31 points (22 in second half) as the Pirates settled the score on their only loss with a road victory at Rainier. Freeman also tied the program's single-season mark in points.
Brooklynn Haywood, Union girls basketball: Sophomore piled up a season-high 38 points, drilling seven 3-pointers and also had eight rebounds and six steals in a win over Evergreen of Vancouver.
Trevor Hennig, Mount Si boys basketball: Weber State signee had a career night against top-10 3A Bellevue - 44 points on 13-of-16 shooting, making all 15 free-throw attempts with five assists in the No. 1 Wildcats' KingCo crossover victory.
Maddy Jewett, Naches Valley girls basketball: Recorded a double whammy against Toppenish - game-high 23 points, including 15 in the second half to eclipse 1,000 points for her career - and helped team avenge earlier loss to the Wildcats.
Brayden Olson, Mark Morris boys basketball: It's not often you can celebrate two program marks in one week - but this senior did with his single-game record 45 points against Fort Vancouver, only to reset it with 47 points against Hockinson.
Champ Powaukee, Pullman boys basketball: Senior guard recorded a triple-double - 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists - with no turnovers in the Greyhounds' 2A GSL victory over East Valley of Spokane.
Ailina Rabang, Lummi Nation girls basketball: Newcomer is making quick impact, scoring 28 points (16 in the first quarter) in a win over Shoreline Christian, and then a season-high 33 poins (21 in first half) in a win over Grace Academy.
Trey Spencer, Battle Ground boys basketball: Senior came up big in two wins - 35 points against 3A GHSL co-leader Kelso and 30 points (and 10 rebounds) against Heritage. He is the leading scorer in Clark County.
Logan Thompson, Curlew boys basketball: One of 1B's top scorers went off on back-to-back nights against Pateros (41 points) and Selkirk (34 points), both victories. Also had a combined 14 steals in two games.
Ashley Uusitalo, Lake Washington girls basketball: Sophomore erupted for career-high 26 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Kangs clinched fifth 3A KingCo title in a row. Uusitalo also set program mark for made 3-pointers in season (53).
