Congratulations to Gig Harbor's Michael Masini for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 15-Jan. 20!

The sophomore forward didn't take long to enter his name in the program's record book. The 6-foot-7 Masini posted a 20-20 game - 23 points and a record 23 rebounds in a non-league victory over Bothell. The previous mark of 21 rebounds was shared by Colorado Rockies infielder Michael Toglia and Mathias Ward.

Masini received 36.4% of the vote, beating out Davis of Yakima ninth grade girls basketball standout Cheyenne Hull, who finished second with 26.9%.

WASHINGTON NOMINEES

Angelica Askey, Rainier girls basketball: Junior paved the way against 2022 1B champion Mount Vernon Christian with a game-high 25 points in a non-league road victory.

Pierce Bierlink, Quincy boys basketball: Sophomore went bonkers from deep - 11 3-pointers - in totaling a career-high 41 points in the Jackrabbits' victory over Cascade of Leavenworth.

Davis Fogle, Anacortes boys basketball: Fresh off a 43-point effort in shocking 1A No. 1 Lynden Christian, Seahawks' junior went off against Sehome - 47 points and 16 rebounds - in three quarters in a victory.

Addison Harris, Camas girls basketball: In a matchup of 4A No. 1-vs.-3A No. 1 in the Puget Sound Holiday Classic, Harris had 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Papermakers past three-time defending 3A champion Garfield.

Cheyenne Hull, Davis of Yakima girls basketball: Just like her sister did at La Salle, this ninth grade post player is already making an impact for the Pirates. After scoring 28 points against Eisenhower, she had 26 points in MLK Showcase win over Lincoln of Tacoma.

Ryan Lafferty, Mount Spokane boys basketball: St. Thomas of Minnesota signee keeps piling up big scoring games - 26 points in win over Lewis and Clark, and 25 points in win over North Central to join 1,000-point career scoring club.

Koby McClure, Prosser boys basketball: After scoring a career-high 35 points earlier this month, the junior had 30 points in a win over Ellensburg to become a 1,000-point career scorer for the Mustangs.

Courtney Price, Oakville boys basketball: In back-to-back seasons, the Acorns have seen players eclipse 1,000 career points. This time, it was this senior post player, who did it after he had 22 points, 20 rebounds and four blocks in a win over Wishkah Valley.

Dylan Skaife, Ferris boys basketball: The Lewis-Clark State signee put up a season-high 40 points in a GSL road win at surging Ridgeline, and had 20 points in a loss against University.

Legend Smiley, Garfield boys basketball: When Bulldogs needed second-half spark, their standout guard delivered. Smiley tallied 20 of his game-high 28 points after intermission, including four 3-pointers, as Garfield took down No. 1 Eastside Catholic.
