Congratulations to Lummi Nation's Jemma James for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Dec. 4-Dec. 9!

There is a reason why James is an up-and-coming name folks are talking about in the Class 1B girls basketball ranks - she is good. The reigning 1B Northwest first-team guard scored 20 or more points in three games against Darrington (25), Providence Classical (26) and Evergreen Lutheran (22) - with 11 total 3-pointers. She also recently notched her first 40-point game.

James received 72.2% of the vote, beating out Tenino boys basketball standout Noah Schow, who finished second with 25.6%.

WASHINGTON NOMINEES

Siena Brown, Hockinson girls basketball: Hawks' most experienced starter poured in 30 points in win over R.A. Long, and had 17 points and 10 steals in a win over Battle Ground.

Anthony Canales, Lynden boys basketball: All-state senior guard posted a pair of 30-point efforts against Wesco opponents - 33 points in a win over Oak Harbor and 31 points in a loss at Jackson - for the Lions.

Jacob Cofie, Eastside Catholic boys basketball: Virginia signee was the baddest man on the floor in No. 1-vs.-No. 2 matchup, scoring 28 points in No. 2 Crusaders' 3A Metro League win over No. 1 Garfield.

Davis Fogle, Anacortes boys basketball: Junior guard made a smashing season debut - 49 points - in the Seahawks' victory over Mount Baker.

Addison Harris, Camas girls basketball: Montana State University signee eclipsed 1,000th career point on a decisive final-minute bucket, leading Papermakers to win over Maret (Washington, D.C.) at Capital Invitational. Also had team-high marks of 23 and 20 points in losses.

Ryan Lafferty, Mount Spokane boys basketball: Wildcats getting tuned up for Les Schwab Invite by going 2-0 at the Bomber Classic. This all-state guard had 22 points in win over Camas, and 25 points in win over Meridian (ID) - both ranked programs.

Jo Lee, Glacier Peak boys basketball: Grizzlies have a good young group - and Lee is leading the way, averaging 31.0 points per game in 4-0 start, including a career-high 49 points in a win over Bothell.

Soraya Ogaldez, North Thurston girls basketball: She can do it all for the Rams - and scored a game-high 33 points, including three 3-pointers, in a 3A SSC win over Capital. She posted back-to-back 30-point efforts.

Jackson Pepper, Selah boys basketball: Junior guard made a run at his cousins' single-game program scoring mark (according to Yakima Herald-Republic), tallying 42 points, including six 3-pointers, in win over Southridge. Elijah and Noah Pepper own record with 46 points.

Noah Schow, Tenino boys basketball: With the team short-handed, the junior forward carried the mail - 35 points (14-of-33 shooting) against East Jefferson and 33 points (13-of-26 shooting) against Black Hills.
