SBLive 2023-24 preseason Class 2B Washington high school boys basketball rankings

All-state duo Triston Frimodt and Quincy Scott return for Columbia of Burbank to lead the Coyotes' state-championship pursuit

Based on conversations with coaches and statewide media, SBLive ranked the top 10 teams across the state of Washington in Class 2B boys basketball heading into the 2023-24 season:

CLASS 2B RANKINGS

Davenport-Brewster MAIN

1. COLUMBIA OF BURBANK

With the combo of all-state juniors Quincy Scott and Triston Frimodt, the Coyotes could be poised to better their third-place finish of last year with the program’s first state title.

2. COLFAX

A late swoon kept the Bulldogs out of last year’s state tournament, but they return plenty of talent and depth, including 2B Northeast South player of the year Seth Lustig and have started quickly.

3. NAPAVINE

The Tigers graduated just one player and the 2B Central co-champions return several all-leaguers topped by league co-MVP James Grose, who was an all-league receiver for the state runner-up football team.

4. NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN OF COLBERT

Siblings Avi and Asher West are back for their junior and senior season, respectively, after piling up accolades as Crusaders aim for first state trophy since 2017.

5. TOUTLE LAKE

High-scoring Ducks welcome back 2B Central co-player of the year Zach Swanson and fellow senior all-leaguer Conner Cox in effort to return to state after missing out last year.

6. SAINT GEORGE’S

Dragons off to a solid start with a win at Brewster and look to return to the state tournament for the first time since 2019 - with all-league selection Shawn Jones leading the way.

7. TRI-CITIES PREP

The Jaguars graduated two all-2B EWAC East selection from last winter’s state qualifiers, but a strong stable of returning players should help the Pasco school challenge Columbia of Burbank in league play.

8. ILWACO

Fishermen fell short of the Spokane Arena last winter, but could make the more than 400-mile trip with co-2B Pacific player of the year Beckett Turner leading a strong cast of returning players.

9. BREWSTER

Last year’s runner-up return it’s No. 2 and 3 scorers – Cort Gebbers and Brady Wolf – and should continue the Bears’ winter tradition of a state berth under coach Michael Taylor.

10. CHIEF LESCHI

Senior standouts Thomas Dillon and Mickey Lara return for the Warriors, who were a bucket away from the state quarterfinals last winter.
