CLASS 1A GIRLS RANKINGS

2022-23 Washington girls basketball: Wapato vs. Montesano, Class 1A quarterfinals

1. NOOKSACK VALLEY

Defending state champions might not be as mountainous across front line, but they still have all-state point guard Devin Coppinger (UW signee) in tow for a show.

2. KING'S

Are the Knights the heir apparent, especially with talented sophomore point guard Kaleo Anderson around for a while? Bet early on this rising team.

3. LYNDEN CHRISTIAN

Without guard Grace Hintz (knee), Lyncs are big, physical group still trying to find a scorer. With her - a big late-season "if" - they are a state contender.

4. WAPATO

WNBA-level shooter KK Bass hass graduated, but Wolves will still fire way from deep, led by guards Jordan Espinoza, Deets Parrish and Trinity Wheeler,

5. DEER PARK

Team lost all-state performer Darian Herring, but returns guard Brooklyn Coe - and inherits a talented pair of transfer sisters in Emma and Ashlan Bryant.

6. ZILLAH

The Runnin' Leopards have four starters back, including three seniors - highlighted by point guard D'Ana Esquivel and do-all utility player Mia Hicks.

7. CASHMERE

It's a new era for this program as Patrick Loftus was hired in offseason to replace longtime coach Bren Darnell - and continue school's lofty tradition.

8. TOPPENISH

In competitive 1A SCAC, Wildcats might have deepest roster, led by Tatiana Camacho's playmaking from the wing and Samiah Baker's facilitating at point guard.

9. LAKESIDE OF NINE MILE FALLS

With five of top six players back, including all-1A Northeast point guard Ayanna Tobeck, Eagles are best bet to join the state fray in 2024.

10. BELLEVUE CHRISTIAN

1A Nisqually champions graduated just one senior off last year's state-bound squad - and are powered by sophomores Kianna Skogstad and Olivia Reynolds.

First four out: Seattle Academy, Freeman, Annie Wright, Seton Catholic.
