SBLive 2023-24 preseason Class 1B Washington high school girls basketball rankings

Reigning state champion Neah Bay graduated top scorer Allie Greene, but is still flashy and feisty enough to defend WIAA championship

Based on conversations with coaches and statewide media, SBLive ranked the top 10 teams across the state of Washington in Class 1B girls basketball heading into the 2023-24 season:

CLASS 1B GIRLS RANKINGS

Allie Heino, Mount Vernon Christian girls basketball, class of 2024

1. NEAH BAY

First-time state champions still have enough pieces, led by seniors Amber Swan and Ryana Moss, to fuel another title-making run in 2024.

2. WATERVILLE-MANSFIELD

Entire squad from last year's sixth-place finisher returns as eastern Washington's top threat, but season status of top scorer Jimena Garcia (knee) up in air.

3. MOUNT VERNON CHRISTIAN

2022 state champions boast top post player in state in senior Allie Heino - and have enough diversity in guard group to be serious factors again.

4. OAKESDALE

Nighthawks got a few volleyball standouts to return to team to supplement cast-leading point-guard duo of Lucy Hockett and Grace Perry.

5. COLTON

Ten-time 1B champions should be in mix behind guard Kyndra Stout, one of top scorer's in state. But depth and point-guard stability still a question.

6. WILBUR-CRESTON-KELLER

Athletic Wildcats might be short on numbers, but they are big on talent, paced by do-everything point guard Karsen Brashears.

7. WELLPINIT

All-state guard Marissa Seyler graduated, but rest of junior-fueled team is back, including post player Danea Norman and point guard Kipri Denison.

8. MOSSYROCK

Returning state runner-up still overwhelming District 4 favorite, but must overcome loss of point guard Mckenna Torrey (knee). Still has athletes everywhere.

9. INCHELIUM

Last year's run to state semifinals was largely on back of all-state forward Zalissa Finley, who graduated. Rest of starting group returns, including big junior class.

10. SUNNYSIDE CHRISTIAN

1B Southeast divisional favorites get one more season out of talented senior Taylor Andringa, who does everything at both ends for Knights.

First four out: Crosspoint Academy, Garfield-Palouse, Pateros, Yakama Tribal.
