Congratulations to Chiawana slowpitch softball standout Adriana Rodriguez for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 23-Oct. 28!

The Riverhawks' outfielder had herself some WIAA Class 4A softball championship tournament, getting hits in 15 at-bats, including a grand slam home run as the Mid-Columbia Conference power cruised to its third state title in a row. The Riverhawks blanked Union for the crown. Rodriguez was the league most valuable player during the fall season as well.

Rodriguez received 61.7% of the vote, beating out Mountain View football player Porter Drake, who finished second with 26.5%.

WASHINGTON NOMINEES

Anna Callahan, Skyline girls cross country: As if there was a doubt who the Class 4A state favorite is this week - the senior dominated the District I meet with a personal-best 5K time of 16:43.3 to win by 24 seconds - and reset state's top time by 61/2 seconds.

Holden Bea, Washougal football: Needing a win to get into a 2A GSHL mini-tiebreaker, the Panthers' quarterback passed for 328 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 98 yards and four scores in a win over Hockinson.

Ellie Bost, Naches Valley girls soccer: Junior midfielder scored two goals, and the Rangers captured their first 1A SCAC West title since 2014 with a win over Zillah. Bost tallied both goals in the second half.

Porter Drake, Mountain View football: Senior totaled a career-high 272 rushing yads and six touchdowns for the 3A GSHL champions, who took down 4A Richland in a non-league regular-season finale.

Darrell Gipson, Timberline football: In an effort to keep the Blazers' season alive, the senior linebacker had 20 tackles, including six tackles for loss, with three pass breakups, a blocked punt and a receiving touchdown in a 3A SSC win over Peninsula.

Luca Moore, Anacortes football: Paced shutdown secondary with his game-sealing interception near the goal-line, and the No. 1 Seahawks captured their first solo 2A Northwest title with a win at two-time defending champion Lynden.

Makenzie Morris, Mount Spokane girls slowpitch: Infielder went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and caught a pop-up fly ball for the final out as the Wildcats ended University's two-year reign as state champion with a wild 18-17 victory in Yakima.

Brayden Platt, Yelm football: State's overall top football prospect rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns in one half in the Tornados' 3A SCC title-clinching win over Gig Harbor. He's tallied three touchdowns in four consecutive games.

Adrien Ruffins, Eastmont football: If you gamble and load up to stop the Wildcats' rushing attack, this speedster can burn you deep. And all three of his receptions were for touchdowns, including a 61-yarder as Eastmont beat Moses Lake to win 4A CBBN.

Cole Truant, Jackson football: Junior had biggest game of his career with four touchdowns - two receiving scores with his 93 yards, a rushing touchdown and a 60-yard interception return for a score in a win over Redmond.

Johan Valladares, La Salle football: Quarterback rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns, including game-winning 4-yard score with less than two minutes remaining in a win over Naches Valley to share the league title.

Ty Webster, Sammamish football: Senior posted his sixth 200-yard rushing effort - 278 yards and three touchdowns on a season-high 38 carries - to become state's first 2,000-yard rusher this fall in a 2A KingCo victory over Interlake.
