Top Texas (UIL) high school state girls basketball tournament stars, best 2024 performances

From 5-star sophomore Jacy Albii to Newcastle's Maddie Dollar's 32, here are the best performances from UIL state week

The final week of the Texas high school girls basketball season is here and UIL state champions are set to be crowned Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

On Thursday, six teams advanced to their respective championship games: Newcastle and Turkey Valley won in Class 1A, Huntington and Shallowater advanced in Class 5A and Frisco Liberty and Mansfield Timberview won their semifinal games convincingly.

The Class 2A, Class 4A and Class 6A championship matchups will be set on Friday.

Mar'Cyah Willis, Waco La Vega (4A)

Hit four 3s on her way to a team-high 16 points in a semifinal win over Dallas Lincoln. Struggled shooting in La Vega's championship win over Canyon while going 4 of 4 from the free throw line. 

Kiyleyah Parr, Waco La Vega (4A)

Scored most of her 15 points in La Vega's 65-60 4A semifinal win over Dallas Lincoln at the free throw line, where she went 11 of 18 along with four steals. In the championship, scored a game-high 21 points (8 of 14 shooting) and eight steals. Named Class 4A tournament MVP.

Megyn Meekins, Nocona (2A)

Scored a game-high 19 points and four boards in a semifinal win over Wellington, then 16 points and a pair of steals in the 2A title, which Nocona lost to Martin's Mill, 44-42.

Kara Nixon, Martin's Mill (2A)

Finished with 18 points, four steals and four assists in a semifinal win over Goldthwaite, then delivered 16 points and the game-winning bucket to lift the Mustangs to the 2A title, 44-42 over Nocona.

Allie Vaughan, Martin's Mill (2A)

Scored 12 points and pulled down eight boards in a semifinal win over Goldthwaite and scored another 12 in the Class 2A title, a 44-42 win over Nocona.

Jaylee Moss, Canyon (4A)

Scored a game-high 26 points and nabbed six board in a semifinal win over Boerne, then scored 12 points in the 4A title.

Averi Aaron, Boerne (4A)

Scored a team-high 13 points in Boerne's state semifinals loss to Canyon.

Mariah Clayton, Duncanville (6A)

Scored a game-high 18 of Duncanville's 39 points on 7 of 8 shooting in a semifinal win over Humble Summer Creek, then followed it up with 19 points and nine boards in a 6A championship win over South Grand Prairie.

Chloe Mann, Duncanville (6A)

Scored 14 points in the semifinals, then 13 in the state title, which included going 8 of 12 from the free throw line in the championship.

Taylor Barnes, South Grand Prairie (6A)

Scored 24 points and pulled down 14 boards in an 11-point state semifinal win over Brennan and 14 points in a 6A title loss to Duncanville.

Kennedy Carlyle, Cedar Park (6A)

Scored a game-high 19 points with a perfect 4 of 4 3-point attempts cashed. The Utah Valley commit had five boards and three assists in a semifinal loss to Mansfield Timberview.

Kamryn Wilson, Mansfield Timberview (5A)

When shots weren't falling, she got to the line and went 7 of 8 on her way to 13 points to go with her 12 rebounds in a 22-point semifinal win over Cedar Park. She scored six points in the state title.

Keyera Roseby, Frisco Liberty (5A)

Scored 13 points and pulled down eight boards in a blowout win over Richmond Randle, one of four Redhawks in double figures scoring. Then had eight points and five boards in Liberty's 5A title win over Mansfield Timberview.

Jacy Abii, Frisco Liberty (5A)

She's a five-star for a reason. Abii had 17 points, 18 boards, eight assists and six blocks as Liberty thumped Richmond Randle, then droped 30 points and pulled down 12 boards in a 60-51 comeback win over nationally ranked Mansfield Timberview in the title. Class 5A tournament MVP

Alaysia Cook, Richmond Randle (5A)

Her team-high 13 points didn't reflect the way she carried her team in a season-ending defeat, especially in the first half where she had 10 of Randle's 14 points.

Jasey Campbell, Rains (3A)

Scored 14 points on an efficient 6 of 10 shooting — a bright spot in her team's 24.5 percent shooting — with four boards and two steals in a semifinal loss to Shallowater.

Carlie Buckley, Shallowater (3A)

Hit 7 of 15 shot attempts — along with 3 of 7 attempts from 3 — for a game-high 20 points. She tacked on three boards and a pair of steals, all before fouling out in just under 26 minutes. Then she scored 12 points, including hitting two 3s, in an overtime win over Huntington in the 3A title.

Kyra Anderson, Huntington (3A)

The forward willed her team through to the state title with 28 points (11 of 16 shooting), 17 boards and four steals. Then she had 17 points (on 6 of 8 shooting), 10 boards, five assists and four steal in an OT loss to Shallowater in the 3A title.

Karlee Mathis, Columbus (3A)

The guard scored 14 points — including four 3-pointers — and pulled down four boards in a 3A semifinal loss to Huntington.

Trinity Schlueter, Turkey Valley (1A)

Finished with a 15-point, 10-board double-double along with three steals in a semifinal win over Neches Thursday morning, then scored nine points, grabbed 11 boards and doled out four steals in a 1A title loss to Newcastle. 

Mya Cabrera, Newcastle (1A)

The senior forward scored 15 points on 6- of 12 shooting, pulled in seven boards, five steals and four assists. She then had 10 points and 10 boards in the 1A championship win over Turkey Valley.

Mattie Dollar, Newcastle (1A)

The junior forward scored a tournament-high 32 points on a masterclass shooting outing: 11 of 18 from the field, 4 of 6 from 3 and 6 of 6 from the line and also pulled down six rebounds in a 22-point semifinal win over Westbrook. She followed it up with 24 points in the state championship to lead Newcastle past Turkey Valley. Class 1A tournament MVP.

Tae Morris, Westbrook (1A)

The senior guard scored a team-high 17 points, including 3-for-7 3-point shooting and pulled down five rebounds in a 59-37 1A semifinal loss to Newcastle on Thursday morning.
