Terry Bussey signs with Texas A&M after late push from LSU, Georgia
Terry Bussey is going to be an Aggie after all. The nation's No. 1 athlete signed with Texas A&M on National Signing Day Wednesday morning in a small ceremony with family and teammates he streamed live on Instagram.
The Timpson (Texas) five-star athlete committed in September, but did not sign in the early signing period after Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher.
LSU emerged as a late favorite and Georgia also made a late push. Bussey visited Baton Rouge last week, then made a final visit to Texas A&M.
Bussey is a multi-year standout on the small-Texas high school stage, and ended his prep career by leading Timpson to its 2A Division I state championship in December.
He threw for 1,875 yards, 24 TDs (opposite four picks), and rushed for 1,165 yards and 17 more TDs, set two records in the state title game and was named both SBLive's Texas Player of the Year and National Offensive Player of the Year.

As a junior, his stats were even more off-the-charts: 2,177 passing yards, 2,586 rushing yards (72 total TDs), 115 tackles, five interceptions, four interceptions for TD, three kickoff return touchdowns, one punt return touchdown.
Here's what Timpson coach Kerry Therwhanger told SBLive in September about coaching Bussey:
"This is my 38th year of coaching. To be able to be around a kid who it this committed, this sharp, this talented, it's just been a pleasure. I keep telling my younger guys on staff to enjoy it, because it doesn't come around that often at our level. A lot of these 6A guys are probably used to is, so it's just been a joy to be around, be associated with it and to watch him to his thing. We see it every day in practice, we see some of the stuff he's capable of, so it's not really as shocking to us on Friday nights as it is to some folks."
