5 Texas high school wrestlers make national rankings; Melissa's Angelo Ferrari No. 1 at 175

Ferrari, Iowa commit and nation's top wrestling prospect, is vying for another UIL state title at 175 pounds

The top 25 high school boys wrestlers in the nation this week in each weight class were unveiled on Friday, and five standouts from Texas made the cut. 

Melissa's Angelo Ferrari is the headliner after coming in as the nation's No. 1 ranked wrestler at 175 pounds.

Midlothian's Karson Tompkins is No. 4 in 190 pounds, Dorian Olivarez of Spring is No. 12 in the 144-pound category, Canyon Randall's Mikey Ruiz is No. 22 at 113 pounds and Caio Aron of The Woodlands is No. 24 at 132 pounds.

Ferrari, the nation's top-rated wrestling prospect in 2024, won his third Ironman title at Walsh Jesuit in December and is barreling toward his third consecutive UIL state championship. He was SBLive's top-rated wrestler at 170 pounds at the end last season.
