Throughout the year, SBLive takes a look at the top high school athletes across the Lone Star State each week, gathering the top performers and putting the best of the best up for reader vote.

Trinity Alexander, Pflugerville Hendrickson girls basketball

She had the go-ahead basket with 0.9 seconds left to help the Hawks pick up a 55-53 win over Georgetown on Tuesday.

Jacob Campbell, Howe boys basketball

In a 54-32 win against Blue Ridge on Tuesday, the senior guard had 24 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Justice Carlton, Katy Seven Lakes girls basketball

The Texas signee dropped in 28 points in a 75-51 against Katy Taylor in a District 19-6A contest on Friday.

Julie Cuellar, Anthony girls basketball

The senior guard scored a season-high 54 points to help the Wildcats survive in a 65-40 win over DaVinci on Tuesday. She later added 24 points in a loss against Clint on Friday.

Rihanna DeLeon, Katy Tompkins girls basketball

The Falcons escaped with a 56-54 win over Katy on Tuesday thanks to a buzzer-beater from the junior.

Tryssa Dowd, Amarillo Tascosa girls basketball

The junior center tallied 22 points to help the Lady Rebels pick up a 91-45 win over Amarillo Palo Duro in a District 3-5A game on Friday.

Rylee Ferranti, Spring Klein Oak girls wrestling

A defending state champion, Ferranti improved to 35-0 on the year with 4 wins at the Gator Roll Invitational on Saturday at Klein Oak High School.

Nicole Fuentes, Sherman girls soccer

In a 6-0 win over Bonham on Tuesday, the sophomore scored two goals and assisted on four more for the Lady Bearcats.

Christian Gibson, Katy Mayde Creek boys basketball

The sophomore combo guard surpassed the 1,000-point mark in a loss against Katy Paetow on Friday. He had 16 points in the loss for the Panthers.

Kristi Gorman, Bryan girls soccer

The senior scored 10 goals in three games this week with 4 against Waco on Tuesday, 5 versus Bryan Rudder on Thursday and one against Cibolo Steele on Saturday.

Ian Inman, Woodlands College Park boys basketball

The 6-foot-5 junior had a career-high 27 points to help the Cavaliers pick up a 75-46 win against Cleveland on Friday.

Martez James, Woodlands College Park boys basketball

In a 75-46 win against Cleveland on Friday, the senior tallied his 1,000th career point for the Cavaliers with a 16-point, 10-rebound showing.

Ricardo Jauregi, El Paso Montwood boys basketball

The senior center had 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 51-47 win over El Paso Socorro on Friday night.

Kayden Johnson, Wolfforth Frenship girls wrestling

At the Hereford Rumble, Jonson went 3-0 with three pins and took first place at 132 pounds for the Tigers — which won the team title by two points on Saturday.

Quincy Lynch, Austin Vandegrift boys wrestling

The 150-pounder went 3-0 with three pins to take first place at the 19th Annual Spartan Hall of Fame Tournament on Saturday in Katy.

Jaime Martinez, Amarillo Palo Duro boys soccer

Competing in the WT Freeze Tournament this week, he had 7 goals and 6 assists to help the Dons post a 4-0 mark.

Jazlene Martinez, Vega girls basketball

The Longhorns got 21 points from the 5-foot-9 junior in a 78-26 win over Highland Park on Tuesday in District 3-2A action.

Alli McAda, Sunnyvale girls basketball

In a 75-16 win against Wills Point on Tuesday, McAda hit 10 3-pointers and scored a school-record 46 points.

Eliece Perry, Pearland girls basketball

The junior had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while adding 5 steals and 2 blocks in a 61-47 win against Alief Taylor on Friday.

Brandon Salazar, Carthage boys soccer

In a 6-0 win over Texarkana Texas High School on Tuesday, Salazar provided 5 assists in the Bulldogs’ 6-0 win.

Taylin Silco, Lubbock-Cooper girls wrestling

Silco stayed undefeated on the year, improving to 25-0 after winning all four matches and winning the 138-pound bracket at the Euless Trinity Trojan Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Jaxson Vicknair, Colleyville Heritage boys basketball

He had 13 points and the last points was on a 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Panthers beat Birdville, 64-61, on Tuesday.

Makayla Woodfin, Gary girls basketball

The senior guard made only one basket on Tuesday but it was the game-winner in a 35-33 for the Lady Bobcats over Beckville.

Eric Woods, Aldine Nimitz boys basketball

The 6-foot-1 senior surpassed the 1,000-point mark in a game against Spring on Jan. 10, tallying 19 points in the win.

Eric Woolston, Frisco Lone Star boys wrestling

In the Cougar Classic in The Colony on Saturday, Woolston went 4-0 to win the 175-pound title. That helped the Rangers take first place in the tournament as well.
