Each week throughout the season, SBLive takes a look at the top high school football performers across the Lone Star State. We gathered the best of the best, separated offense from defense, and now it’s your turn to cast your vote on a winner.

TEXAS OFFENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL NOMINEES

Taji Atkins, sr., Westfield

Atkins ran for more than 200 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 55-41 comeback win over Klein Cain.

Jermaine Bishop, so., Willis

Bishop caught five touchdown passes from star quarterback DJ Lagway in Willis’ 42-21 win over Tomball Memorial.

Caden Durham, sr., Duncanville

Durham only needed 15 carries to rush for 220 yards and five touchdowns in a 62-24 rout of Rockwall-Heath. The senior tailback is a four-star LSU commit.

Micah Ellis, jr., Allen

Ellis rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns — including a walk-off seven-yard TD in overtime — as Allen earned a rollercoaster 36-33 win over Martin.

D’Andre Hardeman, jr., North Shore

Hardeman ran for three touchdowns as North Shore downed Clear Springs, 49-21.

Jack Kayser, sr., Westlake

Kayser, an Army commit, tallied 168 yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries in a 45-28 win over Reagan.

Cardae Mack, so., Atascocita

Mack shined in Atascocita’s 61-35 drubbing of Pearland, running for 227 yards and four touchdowns on just 16 carries.

DD Murray, jr., Bellville

Murray accumulated 204 all-purpose yards and rushed for five touchdowns as Bellville blanked Madisonville, 67-0.

Trey Owens, sr., Cy-Fair

The Texas-bound Owens completed 31 of 45 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns as Cy-Fair stunned Katy in overtime, 28-21.

Keelon Russell, jr., Duncanville

Russell, a four-star SMU commit, also starred in Duncanville’s rout of Rockwall-Heath, completing 15 of 20 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns.

Jett Surratt, so., Carthage

Surratt threw for 280 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-7 thrashing of Alstyne.

Taylor Tatum, sr., Longview

Tatum ran for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Longview defeated Frisco Reedy, 52-14. The five-star Oklahoma commit surpassed the 4,000 career rushing yards mark in the victory.

Michael Turner, jr., Richland

Turner, a four-star junior, was a workhorse in Richland’s 48-47 shootout win over Barbers Hill, carrying it 45 times for 309 yards and four touchdowns.
