Southlake Carroll blasts Frenship: Texas high school playoff football area round live update recap (11/16/2023)
Southlake Carroll's 2023 Texas high school playoff football run continues.
The Dragons (10-1) quickly built a lead that Wolfforth Frenship (9-2) never came back from in a 49-14 UIL Class 6A Division II area round showdown at Wildcat Stadium in Aibelene on Thursday.
The Dragons (11-1) face the winner of McKinney and Highland Park in the regional round next week.
Riley Wormley was the star of the first half. He scored on all three of his first-half touches for scoring runs of 12, 50 and 37 yards.
Southlake Carroll, the No. 10 ranked team in Texas, opened the playoffs with a bi-district round thrashing of Boswell, 70-0.
Frenship beat Eastwood 87-85 in a high-scoring bi-district round matchup.
The Dragons are led by Riley Wormley, a three-star running back, and Georgia Tech-committed QB Graham Knowles, both seniors.

SECOND QUARTER
-- Riley Wormley, the star of the first half, scored three touchdowns on three touches (12, 50 and 37 yards). SBLive caught up with Wormley on how 'surreal' it is playing with the Dragons, sondiering his road to the field. Wormley fought and won an eligibility battle stemming from his transfer from Colleyville Heritage.
-- Southlake Carroll D just not letting anything by. In its first seven drives, Frenship punted five times and turned the ball over on downs once.
