DUNCANVILLEDuncanville put together one of its best offensive games of the season and needed only two quarters to do it.

The defending champions hammered visiting Hutto 63-7 in a bi-district championship game on Friday at Panther Stadium.

The Panthers (9-1) scored 35 points in the first quarter, with Caden Durham or Keelon Russell playing a part in all of them.

Durham, an LSU pledge, had two rushing touchdowns (5, 53 yards) and caught touchdown pass from Russell of 10 and 39 yards.

Russell, who will head to SMU next year, also added a 30-yard score in the final seconds of the first quarter. The Panthers scored on eight of nine possessions in the first half, the only time they didn’t came on the final drive of the second quarter.

That was set up by an interception from Nehemeiah Borner in the end zone to keep the Hippos (4-7) off the board. That was the second interception by Duncanville’s defense against Texas Tech pledge Will Hammond.

Durham had 8 carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns in limited action. He had a 1-yard dive on the Panthers’ first possession of the second quarter.

Russell capped his day with his third touchdown pass – this one to Jameir Willis for 25 – early in the second to make it 49-0. Backup running back Devine Green gave Duncanville a comfortable 56-0 cushion in the break.

Russell completed 10 of 12 passes for 185 yards.

Duncanville, the defending UIL 6A Division I state championships, faces the winner of Rockwall-Heath and Sachse in the area round.
