Romin Seymour visiting Florida State; Nation's No. 9 quarterback previews trip

Texas high school 4-star prospect praises FSU's QB tradition, confirms transfer to Ridge Point (Texas)

One of the nation's top signal-callers in the class of 2026 is among the impressive list of prospects visiting Florida State on Saturday.

Class of 2026 four-star Romin Seymour is visiting Tallahassee for the No. 4 Seminoles' game against Miami after attending two Florida State camps over the summer.

The 6-foot-6, 192-pound Seymour has also officially transferred from Manvel (Texas) to neighboring Ridge Point (Texas) and started classes on Tuesday, he confirmed with SBLive Friday, saying he sought a "better situation."

The Seymour connection to Florida State is familial. His father, Roland Seymour, played defensive end for Florida State from 1996-2000.

Florida, Houston, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M headline Seymour's six offers, and his first rating comes from 247 Sports, which tabs him as the No. 94 overall prospect, nation's No. 9 QB and No. 12 recruit in Texas.

Romin was offered by the Seminoles in June at the the first of two FSU camps he attended in June and July. This time, instead of flashing his arm talent and receiving coaching from FSU staff, Seymour is ready to experience a home game.

"I’m looking to see what it’s like on game day and to feel the atmosphere in Doak Campbell Stadium," Seymour said.

It's still early in the process for Seymour, who is being recruited by FSU head coach Mike Norvell and QBs coach Tony Tokarz, but he's enjoyed watching how the staff has coached current FSU starter and Heisman Trophy candidate Jordan Travis.

"I love the program and I love the direction that they are going in and I feel like they’ve done a really good job with Jordan (Travis) these last couple of years just building him and putting him in the best position possible to be successful," Seymour said.

As a sophomore at Manvel, Seymour threw for 1,245 yards, seven touchdowns and 11 picks with a 49.4 percent completion rate.

The Texas high school football playoffs continue Friday night with the bi-district round, and Manvel (5-5, 4-4) just missed the postseason. The Mavericks closed out 2023 with a 42-7 win over Terry on Nov. 2.

Ridge Point (8-2) faces Tompkins (7-3) in the TX-6A Division I bi-district round on Friday at 7 p.m.

Florida State-Miami kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday.
