UPDATE (8:45 p.m.) — The Richmond Foster-Manvel District 10-5A DI football game has been postponed to Noon on Saturday at Freedom Field in Rosharon.

ROSHARON, Texas — Kickoff between Richmond Foster and Manvel has been indefinitely delayed due to inclement weather.

The Falcons' and Mavericks' 5A Texas high school football matchup entered an indefinite lightning delay around 6 p.m. Thursday, about an hour before the original kickoff time, after several lightning strikes reported nearby Alvin ISD's Freedom Field.

Richmond Foster (6-1, 4-1) and Manvel (4-2, 3-1) are entering Week 8 of the season sitting in first and third place, respectively, in the District 10-5A DI standings.

Kickoff has been pushed back indefinitely with both teams still waiting to come out onto the field for pre-game warmups as of 8:45 p.m. Thursday, when stadium officials announced there was no timetable for a return to play for the Falcons' and Mavericks' high-stakes district matchup.
