HUTTO, Texas - Killeen Harker Heights overcame a sluggish start to knock off Hutto, 42-24, in District 12-6A play on Friday night at Hutto Memorial Stadium.

The Hippos (3-3, 0-2) had no answer for senior running back ReShaun Sanford II, who tallied 272 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries. The University of Houston commit scored twice in the second half, including a 48-yard run to lead the Knights (6-1, 3-0) to the comeback victory.

Hutto, coming off a bye week, jumped out to a 17-14 lead at halftime after scoring on all but one of its first-half possessions.

Quarterback Will Hammond had a big game for the Hippos, throwing for 281 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard strike to Devon McMarion in the fourth quarter, and rushing for 67 yards.

Harker Heights signal-caller Dylan Plake threw for 94 yards and a touchdown to Aimeer Washington. The Knights out-gained the Hippos, 483-399.

Hutto returns to action when it travels to Temple, while Harker Heights has a bye week. The Knights resume district play at home against Temple on Oct. 21.
