ATHENS, Texas — Experience has been key this postseason for Martins Mill, which had deep playoff runs spoiled in the regional finals and state title game in each of the past two seasons.

This year, though, has been a different story for the Mustangs, who bullied Douglass for a dominant 64-51 win in the Region II-2A finals Saturday at Athens High School.

Martins Mill improved 25-2 overall on the season and clinched its second straight 2A girls basketball state tournament berth with the victory. Senior Jada Celsur led four Mustangs who reached double figures offensively with a game-high 24 points.

Martins Mill will face Region IV champion San Saba (30-7) at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Alamodome in San Antonio for a trip to the Class 2A state championship.
