Oceanside Collegiate tops Gray Collegiate for South Carolina 2-A football state title
Will Virgilio's 2-yard touchdown run out of the wildcat with 1:26 remaining lifted Oceanside Collegiate Academy to a 35-28 win over Gray Collegiate in the 2-A South Carolina high school football state championship game on Thursday at Oliver Dawson Stadium.
Freshman quarterback Aiden Manavian threw two touchdown passes to Gavin Gaspar and Max Moorman returned an interception for a touchdown.
Gray Collegiate took a quick 14-0 lead on Tyler Waller's 32-yard touchdown pass to Jamarious and B.J. Montgomery's 4-yard run following a fumble recovery.
The Landsharks rallied behind their freshman quarterback and went ahead 21-14.
Gray Collegiate bounced back twice to tie it before the Landsharks staged their game-winning drive.
Waller threw two touchdown passes and Montgomery had two touchdown runs.
