We have seven athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s Upstate South Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week from Oct. 19-20 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Ty Plumblee, Daniel

The senior linebacker intercepted a pass and caused a fumble in the undefeated Lions’ 56-28 win over Pendleton.

Jeremiah Favorite, Boiling Springs

Favorite returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 24-17 win over Spartanburg.

Imari Foster-Boyd, Gaffney

Foster-Boyd had a big night with 11 tackles, including 3 for loss, as well as 2 sacks in the Indians’ 29-14 win over Dorman.

Drew Spires, Richard Winn Academy

Spires made a game-saving tackle on fourth down at the 2-yard line, preserving the Eagles’ 38-30 win over Wardlaw Academy that clinched the region title. That was one of his 14.5 tackles. Spires also had three touchdowns on offense.

Jayce Joseph, Northwestern

The junior linebacker had seven tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in the Trojans’ 64-31 win over South Pointe.

Myles Brown, Ridge View

Brown, a Virginia commit, made life tough for Richland Northeast quarterback Will Wilson with four sacks in Ridge View’s 42-21 win.

Azel Banag, A.C. Flora

Banag returned an interception for a touchdown in the Falcons’ 44-3 win over Lugoff-Elgin.

Omar Williams, Westside

The senior linebacker made 12 tackles in Westside’s 63-35 win over Easley.
