Here are the candidates for SBLive’s South Carolina High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 9-15 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Lincoln Ilunga, White Knoll, Football

The 5-foot-11, 172-pound senior had three sacks to lead a stifling defense as undefeated White Knoll beat Lexington 16-0 in a key region game.

A.J. Brand, Irmo, Football

Brand keeps compiling big games for the unbeaten Yellow Jackets. This time he was 12-of-20 for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns while running for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 carries in Irmo’s 49-3 romp over A.C. Flora.

Clara Cloninger, North Myrtle Beach, Girls Volleyball

The sophomore outside hitter had 11 kills, 12 digs and 2 aces as the state's top-ranked 4-A team swept Myrtle Beach 3-0 to win the region championship.

Trevon Williamson, Gilbert, Football

How’s this for filling in? Washington, playing in place of an injured starter, ran for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns as Gilbert stayed unbeaten with a 48-14 win over Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

Yana Jeram, Myrtle Beach, Girls Golf

Jeram shot an even-par 72 to claim medalist honors in the Region 6 4-A championship at Country Club of South Carolina.

Zy Landrum, James F. Byrnes, Football

Inserted in the fourth quarter to give his team a spark, backup quarterback Landrum scored on a 37-yard run to break a 14-14 tie with Dorman and give the Rebels the lead for good.

Cayla Gilmore, South Aiken, Girls Volleyball

The 5-foot-11 senior had 16 kills and 3 aces in the Thoroughbreds’ 3-0 win over Aiken.

Cason Brewington, Easley, Football

Brewington returned two interceptions for touchdowns, broke up three passes and made four tackles in Easley’s 63-37 win over Berea.

Luke Gray, Pendleton, Football

The Bulldogs’ quarterback was 20-of-30 for 332 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 41-14 win over Crescent. Gray also had 32 yards rushing on 8 carries.

Ahmir Smith, Calhoun County, Football

Smith had four rushing touchdowns as the Saints toppled previously unbeaten Blackville-Hilda 34-7.
