We have 10 athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s Lower State South Carolina Offensive Football Player of the Week from Oct. 12-13 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Meliq McGowan, Goose Creek

The sophomore tailback ran for 276 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Gators’ 29-25 win over Cane Bay. His last touchdown, a 49-yarder, proved to be the game-winner.

Tanner Macy, May River

Macy ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more, accounting for all his team’s TDs, as May River beat Colleton County 35-20.

Tony O’Banner, Thomas Heyward Academy

The Rebels’ quarterback was 5-of-8 for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns without an interception in a 41-28 win over Beaufort Academy. O’Banner also ran 13 times for 126 yards and a touchdown.

Troy Timko, Hilton Head Island

Timko ran 24 times for 218 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks’ 38-10 loss to undefeated Lucy Beckham.

Jaquise Johnson, Barnwell

Johnson caught two touchdown passes and returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown in the War Horses’ 38-24 win over Ridgeland-Hardeeville.

Austyn Gandy, Northwood Academy

Gandy was 18-of-27 for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns without an interception in a 52-14 win over John Paul II.

Trenton Summers, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler

Summers caught 4 passes for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Trojans’ 38-6 victory over Denmark-Olar.

Tre Leonard, West Florence

Leonard ran for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Knights’ 34-22 win over Wilson. His touchdown runs covered 56 and 4 yards.

Ahmir Smith, Calhoun County

Smith had four touchdown runs in the Saints’ 34-7 win over Blackville-Hilda.

John Peeples, Sumter County

The junior tailback ran 17 times for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Gamecocks’ 17-14 loss to Carolina Forest.
