We have seven athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s Lower State South Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week from Oct. 12-13 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Anthony Addison, Sumter County

His team lost a close one to Carolina Forest but Addison, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound end, was a rock with 15 tackles.

Jaleil Way, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler

Way hauled in two interceptions to help lead a stout defense as the Trojans stifled Denmark-Olar 38-6.

Alex Johnson, Green Sea-Floyds

Johnson returned a fumble for a touchdown in the Trojans’ 37-20 win over Mullins.

Coby Coleman, Cross

The 5-foot-9 senior returned an interception for a touchdown as Cross beat Military Magnet 40-0. Coleman also had a touchdown reception.

Connor Hartzog, Dorchester Academy

The two-way starter had seven tackles and a sack in the Raiders’ 22-18 win over Clarendon Hall.

Ryan Campbell, Fort Dorchester

Campbell returned a fumble for a touchdown as Fort Dorchester ran away from Stall 63-6.
