Here are the candidates for SBLive’s South Carolina High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 1-7 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Here are this week's nominations:

Khalil Johnson, Carolina Forest, Football

The senior tailback ran 19 times for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Panthers’ 49-17 pounding of Conway.

Bridget Wilkie, Hilton Head Prep, Girls Golf

Wilkie shot an even-par 72 on the second day of the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association High School Invitational at Moss Creek Golf Club and claimed the individual championship.

Manny Johnson, Hammond, Football

Johnson ran for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns as the six-time defending SCISA state champion Skyhawks turned back previously undefeated Cardinal Newman 35-20.

Will Wilson, Richland Northeast, Football

The North Carolina State commit threw five touchdown passes and ran for another as the Cavaliers won a 73-58 shootout with A.C. Flora.

Derrick Salley, Ashley Ridge, Football

Salley had a huge night, catching 7 passes for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Swamp Foxes’ 31-20 win over West Ashley. Two of the touchdowns were long catch-and-runs - 89 and 70 yards. Salley also had a 6-yard touchdown run out of the wildcat.

Sydney Green, South Aiken, Girls Volleyball

The Thoroughbreds’ setter had 36 assists and 5 digs as the 4-A reigning state champions beat Airport 3-0.

Jaiden McDowell, Gaffney, Football

Make no mistake about it, the Indians got the ball to McDowell. The star tailback caught 9 passes for 176 yards and had 91 yards rushing on 23 carries in Gaffney’s 19-14 win over Spartanburg.

Eli Hudgins, Powdersville, Football

Hudgins was 15-of-23 for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 61-14 rout of Fountain Inn. He also had a rushing touchdown.

Franklin Emerson, West Florence, Football

The Knights’ quarterback threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more in a 40-30 victory over North Myrtle Beach.

Jaquel Holman, Blackville-Hilda, Football

Holman had four rushing touchdowns in the Hawks’ 54-35 win over Ridge Spring-Monetta.
