Upper State South Carolina Defensive Player of the Week

Congratulations to last week's co-winners: Tremaine Davis of Daniel and Tristan Cromer of Broome.

Here are this week's nominations:

Tradd Coulter, St. Joseph’s Catholic

This is what you call being a ballhawk. Coulter intercepted three passes in the Knights’ 56-8 romp over Calhoun Falls Charter.

Campbell Johnson, Boiling Springs

Though his team lost 14-10 to Dorman, Johnson was a force on defense with 14 tackles, including 1.5 for loss and an interception.

Brannon Teamer, Dorman

Teamer had two interceptions and made seven tackles in the Cavaliers’ 14-10 over Boiling Springs to open region play.

Talan Scott, Easley

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior linebacker led his team with 13 tackles, including one for loss, in a 63-12 win over Pickens.

Drew Spires, Richard Winn Academy

This guy’s motor never stops running on either side of the ball. Spires played linebacker in the Eagles’ 51-0 win over Conway Christian. He hauled in two interceptions, returning one of them 89 yards for a touchdown while making 13.5 tackles and recording a sack.

Jaiden Kimble, White Knoll

Kimble led the way with 9 tackles, including 2 for loss, to fuel a defense that allowed just 78 yards in a 40-0 shutout of River Bluff.

Steven Joseph, Newberry

The junior cornerback was locked onto the football, hauling in three interceptions as Newberry ran past Eau Claire 56-0.
