We have seven athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s Upper State South Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week from Sept. 21-22 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 30th at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.


Upper State South Carolina Defensive Player of the Week

Here are this week's nominations.

Tristan Cromer, Broome

Try this one on for size. Cromer had two interception returns for touchdowns as the Centurions overwhelmed Woodruff 55-14.

Kentavious Anderson, Dorman

Anderson returned an interception for a touchdown and made seven tackles in a 29-28 loss to River Bluff.

Tremaine Davis, Jr., Daniel

Davis had two interceptions in the undefeated Lions’ 55-14 win over Riverside.

Luke Peeples, Easley

The senior linebacker had an interception and made six tackles in a 38-12 win over Southside.

Chris Foster, James F. Byrnes

The 6-foot-1, 2150-pound senior had 10 tackles, a sack and a quarterback pressure as the Rebels overwhelmed West Florence 49-0.

Jarriel Jeffries, Gaffney

Jeffries had seven tackles and a pair of sacks as the Indians’ outlasted Fort Dorchester 48-40 in a battle of 5-A powers.

Lamont Johnson, Chapin

The junior defensive end had 5 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 quarterback hurries in a 22-7 win over A.C. Flora.
