We have seven athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s Upstate South Carolina Defensive Football Player of the Week from Sept. 7-8 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominations.

Wayland Gruber, Dorchester Academy

Gruber had an interception and five tackles as the Raiders beat SCISA 3-A reigning champion Pee Dee Academy 20-13.

Amontrae Scott, James Island

Scott had two interceptions, running one of them back for a touchdown in the Trojans’ 49-0 win over Bishop England.

Dylan Polansky, Ashley Ridge

The junior linebacker returned an interception for a touchdown and recovered a fumble in a 54-13 win over Colleton County.

Kemonte Rose, South Florence

Rose returned an interception for a touchdown, helping the undefeated Bruins to a come-from-behind 30-22 win over Carolina Forest.

Richard Eaddy, Marion

Eaddy had an interception for a touchdown in Marion’s 52-12 romp over Hemingway.

Emauri Blue, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler

Blue led the Trojans with 8 tackles and 2 sacks in a 55-0 pounding of Military Magnet.

Jaxen Porter, Beaufort Academy

Porter had two interceptions in the Eagles’ 35-14 victory over Greenwood Christian.
