Here are 10 candidates for your voting consideration

We have 10 athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s Lower State South Carolina Offensive Football Player of the Week from Aug. 31-Sept. 1 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week’s nominations:

Yannick Smith, Summerville

One of the state’s most dynamic players was at it again Friday. The 6-foot-3 Smith is an East Carolina commit at wide receiver and he caught two touchdown passes for 45 and 33 yards in the Green Wave’s 62-27 pounding of Berkeley. Smith also ran for touchdowns of 11 and 47 yards when used as a wildcat quarterback.

Ahmir Smith, Calhoun County

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior ran 16 times for 211 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Saints rallied for a 41-26 win over Battery Creek. Smith’s longest touchdown run was 81 yards. Calhoun County trailed 26-7 at halftime.

Jeremiah Singleton, Northwood Academy

Singleton, a sophomore tailback, carried 25 times for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Chargers’ 40-12 win over Thomas Heyward Academy.

Dazaun Jackson, Sumter

The senior wide receiver was in big-play mode, catching 4 passes for 123 yards in the Gamecocks’ 50-15 win over Goose Creek.

Ian Grissom, Lewisville

Grissom, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior, was 10-of-17 for 235 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Lions’ 58-0 rout of Chesterfield.

Malachi Washington, Myrtle Beach

The 5-foot-9, 160-pound tailback went over 200 yards for the second week in a row in the Seahawks’ 30-9 win over St. James. That included touchdown runs of 70 and 33 yards.

Simrod McCallum, Dillon

McCallum ran for three touchdowns as the Wildcats pulled away in the second half to beat Wilson 31-13.

Carmello McDaniel, Hartsville

McDaniel ran for five touchdowns as the Red Foxes turned a game between highly ranked teams into a 55-21 rout.

Miles Trussell, Pee Dee Academy

Trussell was 13-of-20 for 210 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ 28-7 win over Carolina Academy. Trussell also had a 95-yard touchdown run and another rushing TD.

Terrence Smith, South Aiken

The Connecticut commit put up more big numbers, though the Thoroughbreds lost 49-35 to Gilbert. Smith was 19-of-29 for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns with an interception. On the ground, he ran 13 times for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including one for 75 yards.
