Prediction: Washington Huskies to land bluechip in-state commitment

Washington is set to add a key in-state target

The Washington Huskies have been forced to re-shuffle the deck after coach Kalen DeBoer departed for the head coaching job at Alabama.

Currently, Washington's class sits just outside the top-25 nationally at No. 29 overall, according to 247Sports.

But there's still a little bit of wiggle room, especially with new coach Jedd Fisch drawing some attention.

Prediction: Rahshawn Clark to Washington Huskies

Former California Golden Bears pledge Rahshawn Clark, out of Garfield (Washington), is rated the nation's No. 19 athlete and remains uncommitted.

Late in the process, the 6-foot, 180-pound versatile defensive back took an official visit to Washington.

And the local program suddenly feels like an overwhelming team to beat.

Clark would be Washington's first in-state commitment in the class of 2024, helping to address a misfire in the cycle that saw key targets leave the state - linebacker Brayden Platt (Yelm; Oregon), offensive lineman Isendre Ahfua (O'Dea; Texas A&M), running back Jason Brown (O'Dea; Arizona State), offensive tackle Fox Crader (Evergreen; Oregon), tight end Hogan Hansen (Bellevue; Michigan) and others.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Clark as a prospect:

"Clark is settled in at his new school and playing on both sides of the ball for the Bulldogs. He's rated as an athlete because we've always felt his highest ceiling was as a cornerback or nickel but his heart has long been at receiver. ...Whichever side of the ball he ends up playing, he will impact the game. He's also a good returner, a player who can use his speed and vision to break off long returns. As a receiver, he's a natural pass catcher and probably projects best inside as a slot but could split out wide too depending on the offense. Defensively, he has some of the best ball skills of any defender in the class and plays with a nice, physical edge to him, not afraid to initiate contact at all."
