Miami Hurricanes hosting nation's No. 2 running back this weekend

Miami is hosting one of the nation's best running backs

Elba (Alabama) running back Alvin Henderson was considered one of the nation's best ball-carriers even before his junior season.

But if any doubters remained, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete put those to rest this fall, amassing 3,523 yards on 15.7 yards per carry.

That performance drew the attention of college football programs from coast-to-coast, as Henderson has accrued more than 40 scholarship offers, highlighted by Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and others.

For his part, the Alabama product has taken several visits, including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon and Miami.

This weekend, he will be making a return trip to Coral Gables.

"Honestly, i'm just ready to get back down with all of the coaches and talk more football see how they’ll use me," he said. "(I want to) come and enjoy the visit as a whole."

Henderson indicated the entire Hurricanes staff is working to get him out of Alabama.

"The relationships are all tight," he said.

Last time Henderson was in town, he said Miami worked hard to make it feel like home.

"I was down for a couple of days," he told SBLive Sports. "Ever since I arrived... the coaches have made me feel as if I am at home back in Alabama. Everything about Miami is special, is something different and it’s close to home."

The main message, according to Henderson, is that he's "their guy."

Given that he's the No. 2 running back in the country and is flirting with five-star status it makes sense.

Miami is hoping to continue to make an impression this weekend.
