KJ Bolden flips from Florida State to Georgia; nation's top safety bolsters Kirby Smart's class
For months, Buford (Georgia) five-star athlete/safety KJ Bolden has been committed to the Florida State Seminoles.
But the nation's No. 1 safety hasn't been shy about taking other visits, particularly to check out the Auburn Tigers and in-state Georgia Bulldogs.
Still, the 6-foot, 185-pound playmaker had remained locked in on his commitment to the Seminoles.
Until Wednesday, that is.
Finally, after months of flirtation with other programs, Bolden flipped his commitment on the first day of the early signing period and chose Kirby Smart's Bulldogs program:
Bolden, who played wide receiver and defensive back at Buford, is rated the nation's No. 13 overall prospect and No. 1 safety in the class of 2024.
His commitment bolsters a Georgia recruiting class that was already ranked No. 1 nationally.
With his commitment, Bolden becomes the third five-star prospect in the group, joining IMG Academy (Florida) cornerback Ellis Robinson IV and Oak Ridge (Texas) linebacker Justin Williams.
Earlier this week, Georgia was dealt a five-star blow when Buford quarterback Dylan Raiola, the nation's No. 1 signal-caller, flipped his commitment to Nebraska.
But Buford giveth and Buford taketh away.
In the end, Georgia secures its Buford five-star recruit.
