Jeremiah McClellan commits to Oregon; Ducks flip Ohio State bluechip wide receiver

Christian Brothers College (Missouri) four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan flips from Ohio State to Oregon

It's early in the tenure of Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning, but he's already built a reputation for being a relentless recruiter capable of pulling off Signing Day surprises.

And he did it again Wednesday.

On the first day of the early signing period, Oregon flipped long-time Ohio State wide receiver pledge and Christian Brothers College (Missouri) wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan.

The 6-foot, 190-pound playmaker is rated the nation's No. 49 overall prospect and No. 13 wide receiver.

McClellan had been committed to Ohio State since the summer, but Oregon never gave up the battle to secure his commitment.

Late in the recruiting cycle, the Ducks were clearly battling to try to flip an impact wide receiver and/or land one via the transfer portal.

With McClellan in the fold, Lanning and his coaching staff have accomplished one of their top (late) priorities.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about McClellan as a prospect:

"Has a solidly built, stronger frame. Stocky and is a tough receiver for defensive backs to re-route. Has a track background with decent times including an 11.27 100-meter dash. Has excellent ball skills. Hand-eye coordination and ability to make contested catches is one of his standout qualities. Shows burst as a route runner can accelerate and get on top of defenders. If he can add just a little bit more top end, he can become even more of a downfield threat. But is a very skilled receiver who will enter a high-major program physically ready to compete."
