Prediction: Oregon Ducks poised to land nation's top uncommitted defensive lineman

Oregon is poised to add a massive defensive lineman

The Oregon Ducks are making a strong case for the nation's top defensive line class in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Dan Lanning's program already boasts Mater Dei (California) five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland and Salpointe Catholic (Arizona) five-star edge-rusher Elijah Rushing.

But Oregon isn't done yet.

Prediction: Jericho Johnson to Oregon Ducks

Down to a final four of Oregon, Utah, USC and Washington, Armijo (California) four-star prospect Jericho Johnson is set to announce his commitment December 21.

This weekend, he'll be making a return visit to Eugene and also plans to take an official visit in December.

On Wednesday, Johnson indicated he wasn't planning on taking trips to see anyone else in the coming weeks, although that could change.

The perceived favorite for months, Oregon is in good position to add the 6-foot-4, 300-pound All-American into the fold.

And that's big news.

Johnson is the nation's No. 108 overall prospect and No. 18 defensive lineman.

More important, however, is that Johnson is the nation's top available/uncommitted defensive lineman and would give Oregon a strong argument to claim it will sign the top three defensive line prospects in the West region - Breland, Rushing and Johnson.

The Ducks are close to signing the best recruiting class in program history.

Johnson's possible commitment could be the final piece of the puzzle.
