Lakeridge star Ansu Sanoe ruled out against Central Catholic, visiting Oregon State this weekend

Lakeridge (Oregon) star sophomore running back Ansu Sanoe has been ruled out this week for the Pacers' quarterfinal matchup against Central Catholic.

Sanoe is rated the nation's No. 78 overall prospect and No. 1 player in the state of Oregon for the class of 2026, and he has already earned scholarship offers from Georgia, Miami, Oregon, Oregon State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound offensive weapon suffered a high ankle sprain on the first play of the game against West Linn in Week 7.

Sanoe has missed Lakeridge's last two games - a regular season win over Lake Oswego and a Round 1 victory over Sheldon - but there was mild optimism he could return this week.

After feeling out the strength of his ankle in practice early this week, the Lakeridge coaching staff decided Sanoe wasn't quite ready to return.

"Being out with an injury sucks, but it also gives me a chance to be a better teammate even if I’m not suited up," he said. "It’s been really great to help lead and coach up the backups. I’m really proud of how they’ve stepped up."

If the Pacers advance, Sanoe is likely to be re-evaluated next week.

On the recruiting trail, the Lakeridge star is making a key in-state visit, checking out the Beavers.

"I love Oregon State," he said. "Ever since I first visited them I’ve always enjoyed their staff and their style of play."

So far, the Beavers are recruiting him at running back, but Sanoe's versatility has made that a fluid situation.

"They’re recruiting me as a running back right now, but I also feel like I can contribute in offenses in more ways," Sanoe said, "Once I feel like there’s a school out there that’s the best fit for me, then I will make my decision. Not sure when that is, but I feel like it’s coming soon."
