Cooper Flagg commits to Duke basketball

No. 1 basketball prospect in the Class of 2024 makes his pick

Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2024, committed to the Duke basketball program on Monday morning, according to reports.

The five-star small forward at Montverde Academy (Fla.) and projected top NBA Draft pick announced his decision on Monday morning. The 6-foot-9, 195-pounder, who recently announced his reclassification from 2025 to 2024, picked the Blue Devils over Connecticut.

Flagg averaged 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 blocks and 3.7 steals for Nokomis Regional in Maine as a freshman, earning the state's Gatorade Player of the Year award, before transferring to Montverde Academy in Florida.

He averaged 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a sophomore at Montverde a year ago. Now, after reclassifying, he will be a senior this season and then become a Blue Devil for the 2024-25 campaign.

Flagg will be eligible for the 2025 NBA Draft, where Bleacher Report, NBA Draft Room and others already tab him as the projected No. 1 pick.
