Isaac Carr to Oregon Ducks; state's top player staying home
In recent years, Oregon Ducks men's basketball coach Dana Altman has built a fence around the state of Oregon.
He landed Crater five-star big man Nathan Bittle in the class of 2021 and former Jefferson five-star small forward Mookie Cook and West Linn five-star point guard Jackson Shelstad in the class of 2023.
It's early for the 2025 recruiting cycle, but Oregon ensured that they kept the tradition alive Thursday.
Central Catholic (Oregon) combo guard Isaac Carr, the state's top prospect, announced his commitment to Oregon over fellow finalists Oregon State, Pepperdine, Stanford and others.
"Big thanks to Coach Altman, and all of the coaching staff, for believing in me and giving me the chance to play at University of Oregon," he said.
For the 6-foot-4 athletic sharpshooter, the chance to play for the home Ducks was simply too appealing.
"I think at Oregon, the coaching staff and I have a great relationship and everything they said is the exact type of coaches and school I'd love to play for," Carr said. "The facilities are amazing, too. Overall, it was a super great opportunity I couldn’t pass up."
As a sophomore, Carr averaged 14.8 points per game while shooting 36.8 percent from three and 82.8 percent from the free throw line.
He is rated the nation's No. 18 combo guard in his class, but has continued to see his stock rise in recent months, as his reputation grows beyond "shooter" to account for his under-appreciated athleticism and bounce.
