Solomon Williams visiting Oregon; Nation's No. 10 edge-rusher eager to see Ducks on gameday

Carrollwood Day (Florida) four-star edge-rusher Solomon Williams will be in Eugene this weekend

Under head coach Dan Lanning, the Oregon Ducks have dramatically ramped up recruiting in the front seven.

In the current recruiting cycle, Oregon is within striking distance of signing the nation's No. 1 defensive line class.

But they are also adding several talented 'backers.

This weekend, the Ducks are hosting yet another front-seven player who fits the new era in Eugene.

Carrollwood Day (Florida) four-star edge-rusher Solomon Williams, the nation's No. 150 overall prospect and No. 10 edge, is visiting for the game against Washington State.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound athlete recently announced he is down to a final five of Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M.

For the Ducks to have a shot at finishing atop that list, Williams wants a close-up view of Oregon's defensive scheme this weekend.

"(I want) to see the game atmosphere," he said. "I also want to see, up close, how the outside linebackers are coached and how I would be coached."

Williams said he has built a connection to both Lanning and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi during his recruitment, which should also aid Oregon's cause.

But, in the end, it could be this visit that's the most crucial component in Oregon's efforts.

What's next for Williams?

While the Florida product doesn't have anything currently set on the schedule he is hoping to check out Alabama before the season is over.
