Aaliyah Chavez, nation's No. 1 girls basketball recruit, trims list to 10

Monterey (Texas) five-star basketball recruit Aaliyah Chavez has trimmed her list

The nation's No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2025 has set her list of semifinalists.

This weekend, Monterey (Texas) five-star point guard Aaliyah Chavez cut her list to 10: Arizona, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA and USC.

"I just want to thank all the coaches for their time invested into recruiting me on this journey," she wrote. "After much consideration me and my family have come down to a list of my top 10 schools."

Chavez, who was SBLive Sports' national player of the year, averaged 30.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.1 steals per game last season and broke Monterey's 41-year-old career scoring record with two years of eligibility remaining.

While it remains far too early to predict her landing spot, it's clear 10 teams should still feel good about their chances of landing the nation's most talented junior.
