Jonah Williams, 5-star linebacker/safety, on Oregon Ducks visit: 'It gave me chills'

Ball (Texas) five-star linebacker/safety Jonah Williams had a stellar visit to Eugene

Ball (Texas) five-star linebacker/safety Jonah Williams is rated the No. 1 linebacker in the class of 2025.

But that doesn't truly define him.

On the recruiting trail, most programs view the 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete as a safety or rover, and an elite one at that.

Williams holds more than 20 scholarship offers from the nation's top programs.

Last weekend, the Texas product checked out one of those options with an unofficial visit to see the Oregon Ducks.

He expected a "crazy atmosphere," and it lived up to the hype.

"It gave me chills," he said. "Deion Sanders, the atmosphere, sold out crowd... it was kind of crazy."

From a game-day environment standpoint, Williams said his trip to Eugene comes in as the best he's experienced.

I'd put Oregon at number one," he said. "The game preparation was just different from other schools. It was a great feeling. It made me want to put on some pads and start playing."

The energy Saturday matched that of the Oregon coaching staff on the recruiting trail.

Williams said from the first contact day until last weekend's visit, the Ducks have made him feel like a priority.

"It has been great since they were first allowed to contact me to time I visited," he said. "It's just been getting better and better."

Will he visit Oregon again?

"Hopefully, God willing, I can make it back up there for another home game," he said.

It is way too early to determine if Oregon will come out on top for Williams, but it's abundantly clear they made a big impression during his first game-day visit to Eugene.
