Miami Hurricanes set to land elite defender following weekend visit?

Wharton (Florida) four-star edge-rusher Booker Pickett may be leaning toward Miami

The Miami Hurricanes had a stellar recruiting weekend.

Hosting some of the top targets on its board, Miami picked up a massive 48-33 win over Texas A&M.

Not long after, Mario Cristobal's program added a commitment from Palm Beach Central (Florida) four-star athlete Waden Charles, a key 2025 recruit.

But the Canes may not be done.

Over the weekend, Miami also hosted Wharton (Florida) four-star edge-rusher Booker Pickett, who is down to Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State and South Carolina.

It may have been enough to secure his commitment.

Following the trip, both 247Sports and On3 made a series of projections for Pickett to commit to Cristobal's program.

Pickett is rated the nation's No. 188 overall prospect and the No. 11 edge-rusher.

In the past two season, he has racked up 52 sacks, including 30 as a junior to go along with 56 tackles and four forced fumbles.

So, will he soon be added into the fold? It's looking that way.

Overall, Miami's 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 16 nationally and consists of 22 pledges, but with the addition of Pickett the class would rise to No. 14, leapfrogging Clemson and Auburn in the process.
