Ethan Barbour, nation's No. 4 tight end, down to 5, sets commitment date

Alpharetta (Georgia) four-star tight end Ethan Barbour is down to 5

Alpharetta (Georgia) four-star tight end Ethan Barbour has set a commitment date.

The nation's No. 4 tight end in the class of 2025 is down to a final five of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State and South Carolina and will announce his commitment September 22:

Barbour is widely believed to be leaning toward Georgia and had high praise for the Bulldogs when breaking down his finalists with On3.

"Coach Todd Hartley is great a guy and he has developed tight ends like nobody else," he said. "Georgia uses tight ends differently also. They are in 12 personnel for much of the game, so they use their tight ends and get them the ball. I like Coach Kirby Smart a lot too. He drives his players and he wants to win a three-peat and keep winning championships at Georgia.”

Given that Georgia has produced several elite tight ends in recent years and is also the in-state program, "Barbour to Athens" makes sense.

Overall, Georgia's 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 1 nationally and consists of 26 pledges, highlighted by Buford (Georgia) five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola and IMG Academy (Florida) five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV.

The Bulldogs' 2025 nucleus, has six early pledges and is also No. 1 nationally.
