One of the top recruiting goals for most major college football programs is locking down local talent and keeping the state’s best players at home.

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners are doing just that in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Millwood (Oklahoma) four-star receiver Jaden Nickens committed to the Sooners on Saturday, becoming the fifth overall and highest ranked pledge in their 2025 class.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior is the nation’s No. 20 wide receiver and No. 119 prospect overall in the class of 2025, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

With Nickens, the state’s No. 3 recruit in the junior class, now committed to Oklahoma, the Sooners have landed three of the state’s top six juniors. Two of the other three remain uncommitted.

While plenty of time remains before the 2025 recruiting cycle ends, Nickens joining the Sooners’ class boosted them up one spot to No. 4 in the national rankings.

Oklahoma jumped LSU, which picked up a commitment earlier in the day from Duncanville (Texas) five-star receiver Dakorien Moore.

Nickens is also a star on the basketball court, having earned SBLive Oklahoma All-State honors last season as a sophomore. Ranked a four-star prospect by ESPN, he picked up basketball offers from Auburn, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss as a freshman.
