Rahshawn Clark, 4-star athlete, commits to California Golden Bears

Garfield (Washington) duo E.J. Caminong and Rashawn Clark are headed to California

Garfield (Washington) four-star athlete Rahshawn Clark wasn't sure where he wanted to go to college entering late spring/early summer visits.

But the 6-foot, 180-pound athlete took back-to-back trips to Berkeley and was sold on the experience.

On Wednesday, Clark announced his commitment to the California Golden Bears over fellow finalists Louisville, Michigan State, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington, all of whom offered early in the recruiting process.

“Throughout the process, they prioritized me," he said. "They made me feel like a priority. I got a good feeling from the coaches and everybody when I was there."

For Clark, those two trips showed him everything he needed to see.

"Cal had been ahead because I took back-to-back trips,” he said. “Meeting the players and seeing how they lived and talking to them and getting my questions answered was a big thing for me. I felt comfortable."

While Clark can play wide receiver or outside corner, he projects as a safety and nickel at the collegiate level.

With his commitment, California has not-so-quietly built a pipeline to the state of Washington.

That effort began with Garfield three-star quarterback E.J. Caminong, who decommitted from the Washington Huskies earlier this summer before choosing Cal.

Now the Golden Bears have a pair of Garfield stars.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Clark as a prospect:

"Clark is one of the top two-way prospects in the state regardless of class. He has Power 5 offers for both cornerback and for receiver. He's rated as an athlete and while we think he's got more upside on defense, his heart is on offense. Whichever side of the ball he ends up playing, he will impact the game. He's also a good returner, a player who can use his speed and vision to break off long returns. As a receiver, he's a natural pass catcher and probably projects best inside as a slot but could split out wide too depending on the offense. Defensively, he has some of the best ball skills of any defender in the class and plays with a nice, physical edge to him, not afraid to initiate contact at all."
