Brandon Tullis, Texas 3-star running back, down to Cal, Oregon State, sets commitment date

Memorial (Texas) three-star running back Brandon Tullis will announce his decision July 8

Memorial (Texas) three-star running back Brandon Tullis has accumulated double-digit scholarship offers during the recruiting process.

But he's down to two.

On Friday, the 6-foot, 190-pound ball-carrier trimmed his list to California and Oregon State, announcing a July 8 commitment date:

Following his announcement, Tullis broke down each of his finalists.

While Tullis hasn't taken an official visit to Cal, he has visited the program and had high praise for the Golden Bears.

"I like that they are located in California," he said. "It's like Texas, so I get a good home-y feeling being there. I'm closest to coach AT [Aristotle Thompson]. We talk about ball a lot."

Tullis took an official visit to Corvallis last week, and came away impressed by several factors, including the way the Beavers use their stable of backs.

"My official visit definitely lived up to my expectations, going back there again for an official," he said. "You get a real sense of family being there. I like the way they run the ball. They get a lot of guys involved, get them touches. That's what stands out about them."

During the trip, he also connected with Oregon State running back coach Keith Bhonapha.

"Coach KB we're pretty tight," Tullis said. "We hung out a lot during my official."

Regardless of where he's headed, the Texas back intends to graduate from high school early and enroll ahead of schedule.

"I'll be enrolling in January," he said.

California has six commitments in its 2024 recruiting class, but is still looking for a running back pledge.

Oregon State, meanwhile, also has six commitments, but has secured one ball-carrier thus far, McKinney (Texas) bruiser Makhi Frazier.

That addition shouldn't worry, Tullis, however, as the two are different styles of runners and the Beavers are looking to add a second back into the class.
