The Oregon Ducks are red-hot on the recruiting trail.

Dan Lanning's program has secured the nation's No. 6 recruiting class so far, bolstered by the recent addition of Clackamas (Oregon) three-star offensive lineman Devin Brooks and Mater Dei (California) three-star wide receiver Jack Ressler

And Oregon is far from done.

So far, the headliner of the class is St. Frances Academy (Maryland) duo Michael Van Buren, an ESPN five-star quarterback, and cornerback Ify Obidegwu, who is the highest-rated pledge on 247Sports at No. 96 overall.

That ranking will almost certainly be topped before December's early signing period, as the Ducks remain in the mix for several five-star recruits.

On Tuesday, one of the nation's top prospects arrived for a visit.

Connally (Texas) five-star cornerback Kobe Black, the nation's No. 25 overall prospect and No. 2 player at this position, tweeted Tuesday morning, indicating he'd arrived on a visit to Eugene:

The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back has a top 11 and has scheduled official visits to Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas and Alabama.

While Black has not formally named a leader, many feel that Texas is the team to beat

Could that change?

For Oregon to truly rise to contender status, it may have to blow away the Texas product this week.

Aiding the Ducks' cause has been a massive push by the program in the state of Texas in the Lanning era.

Oregon, which has two verbal commitments from Texas recruits in the current cycle, signed six players from "The Lone Star State" last year.

Securing Black would be a massive home run for the program, but there's a lot of work left to do.

That effort begins Tuesday.
