St. John Bosco High School (California) safety R.J. Jones put an end to his recruiting process Friday night, announcing his commitment to the UCLA Bruins.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back chose UCLA over offers from 20 other programs, highlighted by BYU, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and others:

Jones is rated the nation's No. 390 overall prospect and the No. 36 safety, making him the current headliner of UCLA's recruiting class, narrowly edging out Mater Dei Catholic linebacker Tre Edwards (No. 414).

The commitment is a welcomed addition for UCLA, which has just seven commitments in its current recruiting class and recently lot elite running back Roderick Robinson II to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Adding further value to the Jones decision, Chip Kelly's program has struggled of late to be a significant recruiting power in the state of California.

With Jones and Edwards in the fold, it's a positive step forward for the Bruins.
