Here are the candidates for the WaFd Bank Oregon Boys Basketball Athlete of the Week as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Jalen Atkins, Barlow

The junior guard tallied a game-high 22 points with six rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Bruins in their 61-58 victory over Grant in the Class 6A state tournament fourth-place contest at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. He had 19 points in a 69-39 win over Jesuit.

Seneca Ball, Madras 

The senior guard had a huge performance for the White Buffaloes with 37 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals in their 72-62 win over Crook County in the Class 4A state tournament fourth-place game at Forest Grove High School. He scored 23 points in a 47-41 consolation win over Philomath.

Brayden Barron, Barlow

The sophomore forward had a big double-double for the Bruins with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds in their 69-39 win against Jesuit in a Class 6A state tournament consolation contest at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Mac Bledsoe, Summit

The senior scored the winning basket as time expired, coming off an inbound lob pass toward the rim, giving the Storm a 52-50 win over Wilsonville in the Class 5A state tournament championship game at Linfield University in McMinnville. Bledsoe finished the game with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. 

Pearson Carmichael, Summit

The senior had a huge double-double for the Storm with 30 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block in a 48-33 win against Woodburn in a Class 5A state tournament semifinal game at Linfield University in McMinnville. He had 27 points and seven rebounds in a 52-50 victory over Wilsonville in the state championship contest.

Isaac Carr, Central Catholic

The junior scored a game-high 26 points, going 7 for 10 from the field and 10 for 12 from the free throw line, with seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals in leading the Rams to an 85-76 win over Roosevelt in the Class 6A state tournament championship game at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. 

Kyle Counts, Wilsonville

The senior wing tallied a game-high 18 points with four assists, three rebounds and a steal in the Wildcats’ 57-51 win over Putnam in a Class 5A state tournament semifinal contest at Linfield University in McMinnville. He scored a team-high 20 points in a 52-50 loss to Summit in the title tilt.

Max Elmgren, Beaverton

The senior scored a team-high 21 points, sinking four 3-pointers, with three rebounds, two assists and a steal for the Beavers in a 72-60 loss to Tualatin in the Class 6A state tournament third-place game at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Kaiden Ford, Cascade

The junior guard had a strong performance for the Cougars with a game-high 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals in their 63-53 win over Marist Catholic in the Class 4A state tournament third-place contest at Forest Grove High School.

Kallen Gutridge, Wilsonville

The senior scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting with three rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in leading the way for the Wildcats in a 56-51 victory against Redmond in a Class 5A state tournament quarterfinal game at Linfield University in McMinnville. 

Terrence Hill Jr., Roosevelt

The senior guard scored a team-high 23 points with five rebounds, four assists and a steal for the Roughriders in an 85-76 loss against Central Catholic in the Class 6A state championship game at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Paul Hobson, Baker

The senior guard had a game-high 24 points and two steals for the Bulldogs in their 74-54 victory against Cascade in a Class 4A state tournament semifinal game at Forest Grove High School. 

Owen Hopkins, West Albany

The junior guard recorded a game-high 20 points to go with six rebounds, five steals and two assists to help the Bulldogs post a 51-48 win over Mountain View in a Class 5A state tournament consolation game at Linfield University in McMinnville.

Brysen Kachel, West Albany

The senior forward had a huge game for the Bulldogs with 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a block in a 72-39 win over Redmond in the Class 5A state tournament fourth-place game at Linfield University in McMinnville. He had a double-double with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 54-52 loss against Woodburn.

Charlie Kapranos, Grant 

The senior forward had a double-double for the Generals with 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in a 61-58 loss to Barlow in the Class 6A state tournament fourth-place contest at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. He scored 22 points in a 78-63 victory over Southridge.

Landon Knox, Cascade

The junior guard tallied a game-high 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal for the Cougars in their 62-36 win over Madras in a Class 4A state tournament quarterfinal tilt at Forest Grove High School.

Jaxon Logsdon, Baker

The junior guard helped the Bulldogs earn the Class 4A state championship, scoring a game-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting in a 75-58 win over Junction City in the title tilt at Forest Grove High School. 

Bryce Lowenbach, Crook County

The sophomore forward had a game-high 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block for the Cowboys in a 63-56 win over Henley in a Class 4A state tournament consolation game at Forest Grove High School.

Utrillo Morris, Roosevelt

The senior guard stepped up with a game-high 23 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in helping the Roughriders edge Grant 67-65 in a Class 6A state tournament quarterfinal contest at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Owen Nathan, Roosevelt 

The junior guard recorded a double-double for the Roughriders with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 73-45 win over Beaverton in a Class 6A state tournament semifinal game at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Zamir Paschal, Central Catholic

The sophomore guard scored 17 points, tying him for team-high honors, with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in helping lead the Rams to a 73-68 win over Tualatin in a Class 6A state tournament semifinal contest at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. He scored 21 points and added seven rebounds and two assists in an 85-76 win over Roosevelt in the state championship contest.

Aidan Rice, Beaverton

The senior tallied a game-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting with three assists, two rebounds and a steal for the Beavers in their 64-56 win against Southridge in a Class 6A state tournament quarterfinal at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. He scored a game-high 21 points in a 73-45 semifinal loss to Roosevelt. 

Keivon Riley, Junction City

The senior guard stepped up with 22 points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocks for the Tigers in their 57-39 victory against Marist Catholic in a Class 4A state tournament semifinal game at Forest Grove High School.

Liam Slattum, Woodburn

The senior turned in a double-double for the Bulldogs with 16 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in a 67-37 win over Putnam in the Class 5A state tournament third-place game at Linfield University in McMinnville.

Jack Snyder, Redmond 

The junior poured in 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting with nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in leading the Panthers to a 68-58 win over North Eugene in a Class 5A state tournament consolation game at Linfield University in McMinnville.

Jaden Steppe, Tualatin

The senior wing had a huge double-double for the Timberwolves with 31 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in a 72-60 victory over Beaverton in the Class 6A state tournament third-place game at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. He had a game-high 29 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block in a 62-46 quarterfinal win over Barlow. He had 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 73-67 semifinal loss to Central Catholic.

Cruz Veliz, Woodburn

The senior guard shined with 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in helping the Bulldogs edge West Albany 54-52 in a Class 5A state tournament quarterfinal game at Linfield University in McMinnville. 

Chance Winter, Beaverton

The 6-foot-11 senior had 16 points, eight rebounds and five blocks in helping the Beavers post a 64-56 win against Southridge in a Class 6A state tournament quarterfinal game at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.
