The Class 6A Oregon high school boys basketball playoffs continued Friday with Round 2 action around the state. Here's a game-by-game summary of the action.

Central Catholic 63, Mountainside 49 

It was a battle, but the top-seeded Rams were up to the task and came away with the victory at Central Catholic High School.

The Mavericks, looking to earn a return trip to the state tournament, were down just 27-21 at halftime, but determined Central Catholic was able to pull away in the second half to record the win.

Senior Marley Zeller sank five 3-pointers on his way to posting a game-high 17 points for the Rams. Senior Tony Angelo added 13 points, and sophomore Zamir Paschal scored 12.

Junior Brayden Boe led Mountainside with 15 points. Junior Peyton Reyes added 10.

With the win, its 18th in a row, Central Catholic, the Mt. Hood Conference champion, improved to 24-3. The Rams will face Jesuit in a state tournament quarterfinal at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Mountainside, which tied for third place in the Metro League, finished its season 14-12.

Jesuit 60, South Medford 47

The Crusaders got off to a blistering start and never looked back in getting the victory at Jesuit High School. 

Jesuit made its first six shots from the field — including two 3-pointers by freshman Isaac Bongen — as it jumped out to a 12-3 lead at the midway point of the first quarter. The Crusaders would go on to claim a 23-13 lead at the end of the opening period behind junior Pat Kilfoil’s nine points. Jesuit pushed the lead to 35-17 when senior Hudson Rommel sank a 3-pointer with 4 minutes and 27 seconds left in the second quarter.

Kilfoil scored a team-high 21 points for the Crusaders. Bongen added 19 points, and senior Nico Rafalovich scored eight.

For South Medford, senior Jackson Weiland had a game-high 23 points. Senior Ty Dahlin added 17.

Jesuit, the Metro League runner-up, moved to 18-8. The Crusaders will face top-seeded Central Catholic in a state tournament quarterfinal at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

South Medford, the Southwest Conference champion, finished its season 19-7.

Tualatin 79, West Salem 70

The Timberwolves earned a chance to win a third consecutive Class 6A state championship, claiming a tournament bid by battling to a hard-fought victory at Tualatin High School.

Senior wing Jaden Steppe led the way for Tualatin with a game-high 30 points, including 17 in the first half.

Junior wing/post Nolan Keeney sank three 3-pointers and scored 25 points. Sophomore Jemai Lake added 10 points for Tualatin, which also got key 3-point baskets from Cole Javernick and Zack Zuckerman.

For West Salem, senior Jackson Leach tallied a team-high 24 points. Sophomore DaMari Hall added 19 points, and senior Connor Oertel scored 12.

Tualatin, the Three Rivers League champion, improved to 20-6. The Timberwolves will face Barlow in a state tournament quarterfinal at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Barlow 61, Sandy 52

The Bruins powered past a Mt. Hood Conference rival to get the victory at Barlow High School.

Junior guard Jalen Atkins helped lead the way for Barlow. He scored a game-high 27 points, including 20 in the first half. He sank six 3-pointers, getting five of those in the first half.

Junior Brayden Barron added 18 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Bruins. Junior Mason Bierbrauer scored 11 points, senior Sentori Martino had 10 points, and senior Cole Patrick had six points and six assists.

For Sandy, senior Marcos Ramirez sank four 3-pointers and tallied a team-high 20 points.

Barlow, the Mt. Hood Conference runner-up, moved to 19-7. The Bruins will face two-time defending state champion Tualatin in a state tournament quarterfinal Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Sandy, the No. 4 team out of the Mt. Hood Conference, finished its season 17-9.

Roosevelt 83, Gresham 66

The Roughriders turned up the defensive pressure, helping force 30 turnovers in getting the victory at Roosevelt High School.

Roosevelt also had a solid offensive night, shooting 32 for 64 from the field.

Senior guard Terrence Hill Jr. led a balanced Roosevelt scoring attack with 19 points. He had four rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block. Senior Chance White added 18 points, five assists and two steals. Junior Owen Nathan had 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals, and senior Utrillo Morris had 12 points, six assists and three steals.

For Gresham, senior Nate Gilkey had 20 points and seven rebounds. Senior RJ Alexander had 11 points.

Roosevelt, the Portland Interscholastic League champion, moved to 24-2 with the win, its 11th in a row. The Roughriders will face PIL foe Grant in a state tournament quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Gresham, the No. 3 team out of the Mt. Hood Conference, finished its season 17-9.

Grant 69, Liberty 47

The Generals, behind some strong defense and a strong start, became the only road team to pick up a victory Friday, as they triumphed at Liberty High School.

Grant limited the Falcons to nine first-quarter points, allowing the Generals to jump out to a 28-9 lead after one quarter.

Senior Charlie Kapranos led the way for the Generals with 19 points, including 17 in the first half. Junior Quincy Scott and senior Vashon Hardges each scored 11, and junior Mekhi Muhammad added 10.

For Liberty, senior Tyler Bradford led the way with 13 points.

Grant, the Portland Interscholastic League runner-up, moved to 19-7. The Generals will face PIL rival Roosevelt in a state tournament quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Liberty, the Pacific Conference champion, ended its season 21-5.

Beaverton 71, Westview 38

The Beavers took charge early and ran to the victory over their Metro League rival at Beaverton High School.

Beaverton, for the second consecutive postseason contest, jumped out to a quick lead, this time claiming a 17-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter before cruising to victory.

Senior Max Campbell paced the Beavers with 20 points. Senior Chance Winter scored 14 points, senior Aidan Rice had 12 points, and senior Max Elmgren added 11 for Beaverton.

For Westview, junior Kai Russell scored 13 points, and junior Lucas D’Haem added 10.

Beaverton, which, along with Westview, tied for third place in the Metro League standings, improved to 17-9. The Beavers will face another Metro League team, Southridge, in a state tournament quarterfinal at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

Westview finished its season 15-11.

Southridge 72, West Linn 67

The second-seeded Skyhawks came from behind to get the victory at Southridge High School.

West Linn, last year’s state runner-up, grabbed a 42-36 halftime lead. The score was tied 55-55 at the end of three quarters before Southridge took charge in the final period.

Junior guard/forward Alonzo Hoff led a balanced Southridge scoring attack with 17 points. Senior guard Carter Fortune added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Kaden Groenig had 13 points, four rebounds and three steals, and freshman guard Elijah Thompson had 12 points and three assists.

For West Linn, junior Jalen Snook scored a game-high 26 points. Senior Max Juhala added 15.

Southridge, the Metro League champion, moved to 24-3. The Skyhawks will face Metro League rival Beaverton in a state tournament quarterfinal at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.

West Linn, which shared the Three Rivers League runner-up spot, finished its season 15-12.
