Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oregon High School Team of the Week for Dec. 25-31 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers. 

Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

Beaverton girls wrestling

The Beavers edged Canby to claim the title at the Tigard Girls Invitational at Tigard High School. Beaverton had 136 points to place first at the 10-team event. The Cougars were second with 134. The Beavers boasted three individual champions in Neveah Villa Hernandez (110 pounds), Maya Barrios (125) and Gracie Boer (145).

Burns wrestling

The Hilanders, with 254 points, battled their way to the championship at the 12-team Woodfin-Robinson-Johnson Memorial Tournament at Burns High School. The Hilanders had five individual champions in Kempton Richardson (106/113 pounds), Kale Cornell (120/126), Cannon Kemper (150), Easton Kemper (190) and Joe Weil (215).

Coquille girls wrestling

The Red Devils fought their way to the championship at the Shamrock Wrestling Tournament at Riddle High School. Coquille took first place at the 10-team event with 69 points. Myrtle Point was second with 55. Chloe Carr at 130 pounds and Amaya Arce at 140 won individual titles for Coquille.

Franklin boys basketball

The Lightning claimed the championship at the Century Winter Tournament at Century High School. Franklin beat the host team from Century 59-57 in the first-round and bested Sandy 77-67 in the title tilt. Senior guard Dominic Papworth paced the Lightning in the tournament final with 29 points.

Glencoe girls basketball

The Crimson Tide went 3-0 in Ruby Division play at the Pacific Office Automation Holiday Classic at Grant and Franklin high schools. Glencoe beat Sprague 59-51, David Douglas 53-28 and Franklin 59-42.

Henley girls basketball

The Hornets went 3-0 to win the title at the Sisters Shootout at Sisters High School. Henley opened with a 57-45 win over La Grande. In the semifinals, the Hornets bested Madras 74-62 before wrapping up with a 46-43 win over Banks. Henley improved to 11-0.

Hidden Valley wrestling

The Mustangs claimed the championship at the Challenger Invitational at Cascade Christian High School. Hidden Valley had 131.5 points to take the top spot at the eight-team event. Douglas was second with 76. The Mustangs crowned four individual champions in Wyatt Smith (138 pounds), Gabe LaCombe (157), Nathaniel Breyman (165) and Gage Ayres (215).

McKay boys basketball

The Royal Scots ran to an 88-45 win over Hillsboro in a nonleague game at McKay High School. It was the team’s first home victory since getting a 90-83 win against Sprague on Feb. 9, 2018. Junior Dennis Bondar scored a game-high 21 points for the Royal Scots. Senior Lawrence Mike added 17 points, and junior Kevin Munguia had 15.

Mountain View boys basketball

The Cougars won the championship at the Oregon Holiday Hoopfest at Summit High School. Mountain View opened with a 76-72 win over Crook County. The Cougars bested Clackamas 66-60 in the semifinals before getting a 59-43 win over Caldera in the title tilt behind senior Quincy Townsend’s 22 points.

Nelson girls basketball

The Hawks won the Emerald Bracket championship at the Portland Office Automation Holiday Classic at Grant High School. Nelson topped Annie Wright, Wash., 62-33 and Southridge 49-34 before getting a 55-44 win over Wilsonville in the title tilt. Freshman Love Forde scored 25 points in the championship game for Nelson, which improved to 8-0.

Nyssa wrestling

The Bulldogs claimed the championship at the Charlie Anthony Memorial Tournament at Ontario High School. Nyssa took the top spot in the eight-team event with 134 points. The Bulldogs had two individual champions in William Savage at 138 pounds and Noah Fuentes at 285.

Oakland boys basketball

The Oakers defended their home court, getting a 60-44 win over Creswell to win the championship of the Oakland Booster Club Tournament. Junior guard Joseph Fusco led the way for Oakland in the title-game victory with 28 points, five steals and four assists.

Sheldon boys basketball

The Irish won the championship at the McMinnville Winter Classic at McMinnville High School. Sheldon opened the tournament with an 80-69 win over Sprague. The Irish bested McMinnville 70-52 in the title game. Junior guard Rocco Graziano led the way in the championship-game victory with 30 points.

South Medford girls basketball

The Panthers won the Platinum Division title at the Portland Office Automation Holiday Classic at Lincoln and Franklin High Schools. South Medford beat Cleveland 70-35 and bested West Linn 59-29 in the semifinals. In the championship game, the Panthers rallied to get a 63-56 win over Mission Hills, Calif., behind sophomore Taylor Young’s 19 points and five steals.

South Umpqua wrestling

The Lancers won the championship at the Shamrock Wrestling Tournament at Riddle High School. South Umpqua had 181 points to claim the title at the 13-team event. Camas Valley placed second with 132.5. Emmanuel Mata led the way for the Lancers, winning an individual title at 175 pounds.

St. Helens girls wrestling

The Lions roared loudly in winning the title at the Junction City Girls Invitational at Junction City High School. St. Helens reigned at the 19-team event with 141 points. Creswell placed second with 134. The Lions had three individual champions in Kallee Kester (135 pounds), Victoria Crawford (145) and Jadyn Pense (170).

Stayton girls basketball

The Eagles notched a 46-36 win over previously unbeaten Klamath Union in a first-round game at the SCTC Holiday Classic at Stayton High School. Stayton, which improved to 6-1, got 15 points from junior Haley Butenschoen.

Tualatin boys basketball

The Timberwolves claimed the consolation championship at the Les Schwab Invitational at Liberty High School. After losing its opening game, Tualatin beat Lake Oswego, Cascade Christian and Jesuit, 75-72 in overtime, to get the consolation crown. Senior Jaden Steppe led the way in the win over the Crusaders with 25 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Umpqua Valley Christian girls basketball

The Monarchs won the title at the Oakland Boosters Club Tournament. They bested Creswell 39-30 before getting a 34-18 win over the host team from Oakland in the championship game behind junior guard Kendyl Elias’ 16 points.

Vale girls wrestling

The Vikings claimed the championship at the Woodfin-Robinson-Johnson Memorial Tournament at Burns High School. Vale had 116 points to take first place. Nyssa was second with 100. Ava Collins took first place at 135-140 pounds and Jessica Williams was first at 145-155 to lead the way for the Vikings.

West Salem boys basketball

The Titans claimed the championship at the Abby’s Holiday Classic at South Medford High School. West Salem opened the tournament with a 67-27 win over Milwaukie. In the semifinals, the Titans bested North Medford 61-53 before downing South Medford 81-79 in double overtime in the title contest. Senior Connor Oertel scored 23 points and senior Jackson Leach added 21 for West Salem in the championship-game victory.
