Look: Jesuit stuns Summit on OT buzzer-beater in Les Schwab Invitational

Junior guard Pat Kilfoil clanks in deep 3-pointer in overtime, sends crowd into frenzy

HILLSBORO, OREGON - As soon as the ball left Pat Kilfoil's fingertips, he had a feeling it was going in.

The Jesuit guard released a deep 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded, down two, and watched the ball clank twice and drop in to lift the Crusaders (6-3) over Summit in the Les Schwab Invitational on Friday.

The shot sent the Liberty High School crowd into a frenzy and brought Jesuit one win from a consolation championship.

Kilfoil was 1 of 11 from deep in Jesuit's first two games in the tournament, but he had the hot hand all afternoon Friday, hitting six 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 30 points.

When Jesuit got the ball on a sideline inbound with seconds left, trailing by two, Kilfoil met the moment.

"To be honest, I just wanted the ball," Kilfoil said. "And I trust my teammates to hit that shot, but I'd been feeling it all game and I knew I was going to make it."

The inbound went to Tyler Curvy around mid-court, and he drove and dished to Isaac Bongen.

The standout freshman slipped while ripping the ball across his body to his left, gathered himself and handed the ball to Kilfoil, who let the deep contested 3-pointer fly.

"He's cool shooting it, I'm cool shooting it," Kilfoil said. "It felt good. I knew (it) was cash."

The Crusaders withstood a 34-point outing from Boise State commit Pearson Carmichael, who dropped 44 points against Liberty on Thursday before suffering a nose injury. The Summit standout played with a mask.

Nico Rafalovich added 26 points and eight rebounds for Jesuit.

Jesuit faces Tualatin in the consolation championship Saturday at 3:30 p.m
